Top Ten tuesday: Historical books I love

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.  This week: Historical books I love.

  1. Oh, I love Water for Elephants! I feel like a lot of people didn't like it, but I was so sucked into the settings especially, with the way the book was written. It was never overly descriptive, but somehow it came across so well it was like I was there!

  2. Great choices! :-) I also really love Code Name Verity and Snow Flower and The Secret Fan.

  3. I find a lot of historicals published in recent memory, like certain of the books on your list, to be rather overrated. I've always tended most strongly towards classic historical fiction, published at least 30 years ago. I just have very dinosaur tastes, and there's more chances of finding a thick doorstopper historical published then as opposed to now.

  4. The Secret Garden is amazing, glad to see it made someone's list this week!!

  5. You've picked so many amazing historical fiction reads. One of my absolute favourites is Water for Elephants, I absolutely love that book.

Here's my TTT post if you want to check it out.

  6. Ooh I love The Book Thief too!
